Formed on the 9th of December 1996, the Royal New Zealand Army Logistic Regiment (RNZALR), sometimes known as "the Duke of York's Own", reflecting Prince Andrew's position as Colonel-in-Chief, is the New Zealand Army's main Military Logistics & Combat Service Support (CSS) element. It is the largest regiment in the NZ Army. ==Trades== The RNZALR includes 11 trades providing various support functions within the NZ Army and across the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF). Chefs & Stewards Catering support to operate any of the camp mess, operational or field kitchens. Drivers & Movement Operators Transport and Mobility, from light to heavy vehicles carrying stores or troops to the international movement of troops and equipment. Supply Technicians Supply & Quartermaster support for the providing, accounting and managing of ammunition, fuel, rations, weapons, general stores, spare parts, vehicles and any other mission critical equipment required by the NZDF within NZ or overseas. Vehicle Mechanics, Weapons Maintenance Technicians, Electronics Technicians, Electrical Fitters & Maintenance Fitters Maintenance support for the repair and general maintenance of all the Army's equipment. This includes vehicles, radios, night vision devices, general engineering, electrical components and weapons. Ammunition Technicians Technical Ammunition support for the inspection, maintenance and disposal of all ammunition and explosives used by the New Zealand Army.
